The Yole Book

The OYA has published a book entitled "The Orkney Yole". The book is a 244 page A4 landscape extravaganza of full colour photographs and articles on the iconic Orkney Yole, showing off the boat in wide-ranging settings, from recent and past regattas, historic photos of flotillas of yoles in and around Orkney, in the company of Tall Ships, yole variants with lugsails, Viking replicas etc etc. All complemented by articles on the history and development of the boat, its uses in times past, how to build and restore yoles and exciting tales out at sea on a yole. It costs £25 a copy.
The book is available in the Stromness bookshop, the Orcadian bookshop Kirkwall, and Finstown post office. Copies are also available in the museum shop in Kirkwall.
