Learning about Lichens
17 August 2024
Starts: 10:30

Learning about lichens, with local expert Roger Davies.  Firth Community Centre (on the Old Finstown Road), Saturday 17 August 10.30

Roger plans two parts to this event: in the morning, a talk on the biology of lichens and how to identify them, followed by a practical session with specimens for all to look at; then in the afternoon an outing in the near vicinity to see and identify as many species as we can!

Folk are welcome to join for all or part of the day: the morning session will run from 10.30 till roughly 12.30; the destination for the afternoon will be Firth Park, at the back of the Kirk, perhaps stopping en route to look at some of the graveyard lichens opposite the car park on the shore.

Bring a hand lens and a small ruler if you have them, though some lenses can be provided, and a packed lunch.  To book or for further details contact  Roger Davies at roger@headweb.co.uk. Contact number on the day if necessary 077 300 62641 or 07538 919 477.
