As league action begins to simmer away nicely in the KDDL, attention turned on Saturday to one of the big charity fundraising open events of the season with the Davy Cooper Memorial Open played in the Masonic.
The event attracted a healthy entry of 28 players, including a few ladies as well as visitors from further afield. As well as the darts, there were also raffles, fun boards and a coin push on the go, which raised in excess of £800 on the day. This will be boosted to £1000 by the KDDL which will then be split between the RNLI and Fishermens Mission and donated later in the season.
By final time it was a case of young against old, with Josh Alexander running out 4-3 victor over Stevie Linklater in a very close final.
180s were scored by: Gary Wilson, Kevin Sarling, Paul Foubister, Karl Scott, Stephen Griffiths, Michael Montgomery, Richie Ballantyne, Erland Ritch, Craig Taylor, Kevin Gray (two), Josh Alexander (two), Stevie Linklater (three) and Dennis Watt (four). Paul Foubister also had a score of 177, with Aidan Nicolson hitting 171.
High Finishes came from: Stuart Kay 105, Bruce Moar 106, Stevie Linklater 107, Stuart Thomson 110, Erlend Lennie 111, Michael Muir 112, Ross MacPherson 150, Aidan Robertson 150, Erland Ritch 157, Lee Macpherson (114, 116) and Kevin Gray (118, 140).
