Tulloch and Drever retain B Doubles Cup

Runners up Alan Findlay and Jamie Tulloch, Winners Ryan Tulloch and Jamie Drever.

The twentieth week of competitive action in the KDDL season saw the attention swing once again to the boys in the 'B' league, with the 'B' league doubles taking place in the Masonic on Friday evening. With competition heating up for places in the 'B' county team, there was a very good entry of 17 pairs.

The Wanderers duo of Brian Moar and Martin Peace got off to a flying start, registering a 13 dart leg in their first round victory, but the young pairing of Jamie Tulluch and Alan Findlay dashed their hopes in the quarter-finals, winning by the odd leg in five with a bull finish on 85 by Alan being the decisive moment in the match. Meeting them in the semi-final were the Ross twins from Rough 'n' Rowdy, MacPherson and McQuillan, who are steadily improving week on week. With their tie going the distance, the two Ross's got within striking distance, only for Jamie Tulloch to shanghai 20s for a 120 checkout to win it.

In the other half of the draw Ryan Tulloch was in imperious form as he and fellow defending champ Jamie Drever made their way to the other semi-final. They were also pushed to a deciding leg by the other Wanderers duo of Keith Brumpton and Aaron Mitchell, but the Sands lads came out on top.

With there having been some really good darts throughout, and the most consistent pairs making the final, the watching crowd would have been forgiven to think they'd be in for a tungsten treat. Unfortunately nerves seemed to take over for both pairs, which lessened the quality but perhaps heightened the excitement levels. But for missed doubles, Alan and Jamie T could have been 3-1 up, but instead found themselves with the scoreline reversed. Ryan meanwhile had been the only player really showcasing their talent early on but, as his throwing waned, Jamie D came to the fore and helped see them past the winning line for their third succesive title.

The highlight of the league action earlier in the week saw Sands produce a second half whitewash to end Wanderers run of perfection after going 14 wins from 14. The Wanderers still look well placed to take the title at this stage, but perhaps seeds of doubt have been sown? The race for the next two promotion slots is between four teams who are all within a few points of each other. Bilco Boys, Quoyburray, Sands and The Toonies all won their matches in the week so no places were exchanged this time around.six points over Untouchables, who have two games in hand.

Disappointingly, only half the matches went ahead in the 'A' league, with wins for both the Legion and Exiles seeing the Exiles extend their lead at the top to six points over the Untouchables, who have two games in hand. With the end of the season only a few weeks away, teams are reminded that any outstanding matches must be played before the end of the final week of league action.

The next two Fridays it's back to ranking compeition action with the Taylor singles and the Louttit Cup taking place, both in the Legion.
