A very poor turnout of 21 players came forward for the once very popular Tattie Bogle Charity Mixed Doubles and, with so few ladies, most of the first round got a second chance on the ladies side.

After a big raffle, the final got under way, with Craig and Debra taking on Tone and Sam and. Craig and Debra cruised to an easy win. The high and low scoreboards had  been used earlier on, with some interesting scores before there were winners. Neil hit the perfect ten to win the low scores for the gents, with Simone getting the ladies prize with 104. It is played on the Yorkshire board which doesn¹t have any trebles. The high score on the Quotro board which has an extra ring, was won by Bruce Moar for the gents, and Michelle for the ladies, who had a higher score than Bruce with 245. Bruce had 234. All the proceeds are going to the Heart Foundation.
 

This Friday sees the first of the four qualifying rounds to get eight players to play the professionals in August. It is in the Royal British Legion, and not in the Masonic club, as is on some posters. It is open to any player in Orkney, male or female. The next round is next Friday, May 27, in the Commodore, then it is on to the Masonic Club on Saturday, June 4, with the final qualifier in Stromness Golf Club on Friday, June 10. K-DDL are running all the qualifiers.
