It is getting close to that time of the year again for the dart players in the Kirkwall and District Darts League to look out their darts again!

It all kicks off on Thursday, August 16, with the AGM taking place in the Legion’s Blue Room at 8 p.m. Hopefully, there will be a good turnout.

But, before a league can be formed, teams have to enter. At the moment 15 registration books are out, but only two have been returned, and all books should be back with the secretary, Jim Scollie, by August 12.

Only one new team has entered, and is a famous name — the Nomads — who in the 70s and 80s won six titles with seven runners-up, which then, was one league.

Six of last year’s teams have still to show any interest. They are: the Shore; Sands; Quoyburray; Commodore; Bilco Boys; and Meadowbank, but there’s still time.

Also, players are needed to stand for committee duties during the season. Names to the secretary by August 12. No names after that date.
