These Shapinsay boys are at it again! They were one of the eleven teams who entered for the Swannie Cup which is for A and B teams, with four 'B' teams and seven 'A' teams and there was a shock right from the first bull-up with the Vikings, last years 'B' wooden spoon winners taking out the mighty Golf Club in the first round.
That was followed by the Shapinsay team getting past the Untouchables 'A' in the play-off game and they continued by taking out the Wanderers also on the play-off game.
That took them into the final and the only 'B' team still standing, were they going to make it two trophies in a row?
But waiting for them in the final was the Untouchables, soon the score stood at 2-2, so yet another play-off game, and once more it was up to Jamie Marwick against Ian Wilkie for the silverware, and for the third time, young Jamie hit the double to take the silverware across the water, and they did it by winning every game on the play-off game. They are also the first 'B' team this century to win an A and B trophy.
The first charity match of the season, the Davy Cooper Memorial Cup, failed to attracted many players as only 23 players turned up and included five young ladies but only three 'A league players, but two of them more or less dominated the event.
There were some terrific games and the ladies did alright, but they did have a ton lead per game.
At the end of the night, Craig Taylor lined up against team mate Iain Wilkie and after a very good final, Iain came out a 3-2 winner however Craig did have a throw to win it. Over £600 was raised for the Fishermen's Mission and RNLI on the day.
