Three big names in darts are set to visit Kirkwall at the weekend when Terry 'The Bull' Jenkins, ranked 21st in the world, Alan 'Chuck' Norris, world number 18, and top TV commentator and well known voice of darts John Gwynne are to appear at the Kirkwall Royal British Legion Club on Saturday.

The visit to Orkney has been arranged by the Kirkwall & District Darts League at starts at 7pm, with doors open at 6.30pm.

The darts league celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and the event has been arranged to mark the occasion, although it is open to the public for anyone who wants to come along to enjoy what promises to be a great night of darts and laughs.

The professional players will take on various local players on the night, including a number of players selected at random from the crowd on the night itself.

The 200 capacity venue is well on the way to being a sell out, but there are still around 40 tickets available priced at only £10 each left. They can be purchased from behind the bar at the Legion Club, or from darts league president Craig Taylor (Tel: 07802 440068) or from KDDL committee members.

There may also be tickets on sale on the door on the night if there are any left by the end of the week. Updates can be found on the Orkney Darts Facebook group page.

MC John Gwynne, who has visited Orkney previously with top players said that both he and the professionals are looking forward to their visit.

Speaking ahead of the visit John said: "I am looking forward to my second visit to Orkney and, especially, to your beautiful capital, Kirkwall.

"I loved my visit to Orkney with the Modus team a few years ago. We were accommodated some way out of Kirkwall, which added to the sense of adventure.

"We crossed an area of water where there were sunken boats and a small Italian Chapel. I liked Kirkwall, especially the wonderful St Magnus Cathedral. I spent a good hour in there and could still have stayed longer.

"Terry Jenkins and Alan Norris are both great lads and good friends of mine. Alan, who comes from Yeovil but who lives in Boness, near Edinburgh, is a big Man City fan, just like me! I had a big part in Terry's nickname, calling him the Herefordshire Bull when he first appeared on TV. I think 'The Bull' has served him well.
