The summer points racing continued on Tuesday 8th July. Despite the fog and light wind eight boats turned out to race. A short course of buoy 1 then 2 then 1 and in worked out well in the Easterly breeze. Raymond Grieve and John Skea won the first race with a comfortable margin in Still Game. Malcolm Gordon's Aquamania, with Kyle Kent as crew finished 2nd with Charlie Siderfin and Amy Causer in Aeolus close behind in 3rd place. Aquamania just pinched ahead of Aeolus to win race 2. Still Game followed Aeolus across the finish. In the third race Aquamania was triumphant once again with a comfortable lead over Fredrik Sundman and Neil Tait in Kontiki, while Still Game finished third once again.

The perfect sailing conditions with bright summer sunshine attracted eight snipes to points racing in Holm on Tuesday 24th June. Three races were held in the Easterly breeze of 10 to 12 kts, course 4 was used for race 1. Moonstone contrived a good start in the first race and led the way round the course. The alternative Easterly course 3 was used for the next two races, giving a shorter course and two good upwind legs. Neil Foubister swapped with Mark Causer for races 2 and 3. Judicious use of wind shifts put Kontiki at the front by a good margin in races 2 and 3, helmed by Lyndsey Walmsey and then with Fredrik Sundman at the helm for the third race. These are the first race wins of the season for Kontiki, unlikely to be the last.

The fleet was well spread out in the first race, the other two races were very close with many opportunities for place changes. Good close racing for all competitors.

Six snipes took part in the racing on Tuesday 17th June, course 13 was sailed in the gusty North Westerly breeze. In the first race Neil Foubister’s No Fear won with a comfortable margin. Both No Fear and Moonstone were over the line at the start of race 2, and had to go back. This didn’t deter them; No Fear went on to win the race with Moonstone not far behind in second place. Charlie Siderfin’s Aeolus took the lead in the third race, finishing nearly a minute ahead of No Fear. Fredrik Sundman and Lyndsey Walmsey in Siesta were performing well in Race 3 till a capsize resulted in a 5th place.

Eight boats took to the waters of Scapa Flow on Tuesday 10th June to compete in the third evening of Holm Sailing Club Points Racing. Course 10 was sailed in the light to moderate Westerly breeze which strengthened for a time during heavy rain before dying away to a drift in the second race. The second race was shortened due to the very light conditions. Andrew Leslie’s Moonstone got off to a good start in the first race and managed to keep ahead of Neil Foubister’s No Fear to win the race. No Fear made a good start in the second race but had to make do with second place once again after Moonstone passed her up the second beat. Further back in the fleet there was very close racing between Aquamania, Rio, Kontiki and Smurf, with Malcolm Gordon’s Aquamania getting third place in the first race and Fredrik Sundman’s Kontiki getting third place in the second race.
