Stronsay Defib Appeal

This appeal is to raise funds for public access defibrillators to be sited in three locations across Stronsay including Whitehall village and Rothiesholm. The funds will be used to cover purchase, maintenance and installation costs as well as providing AED/defib and first aid courses for interested resident.

A defibrillator is a device that gives a high energy electric shock to the heart of someone who is in cardiac arrest. This high energy shock is called defibrillation, and it's an essential part in trying to save the life of someone who’s in cardiac arrest.

To help someone who is in cardiac arrest effectively, a defibrillator needs to be found as quickly as possible. For every minute it takes for the defibrillator to reach someone and deliver a shock, their chance of survival decreases by 10%

Our community is grateful that one of our own community members was able to access this life saving treatment successfully and we want to ensure that we can offer the best chance to all here on Stronsay for the future.
