We would like to hear from anyone interested in the parish of Orphir and Stenness. This is where you can leave a message (hopefully of support!) and make contact with other members of our world wide Christian congregation.
Stenness cemetery
Hello, I will be visiting Stenness in September. Is there a record of Stenness cemetery burials that I might use to research my Muir ancestors whom I believe were interred there (ca 1900). Thank you very much for your lovely website

recent visit
Hello, I wanted to thank everyone for such a warm welcome back to Orphir, Sunday 16th June 2013 was my 5th visit to the church. So lovely to worship with you again. Every blessing for the future. It was extremely difficult to hold back the tears as my plane left Kirkwall!

Lennie Family
Hi, I am visiting in October this year and researching some of my father's family in the area. My father, John Veater, grew up on a farm with his uncle's family, I believe the name was John Harvey Lennie, known as Harvey's farm. Dad was there from about 1940 and i think Harvey was born around 1900. Havent been able to find much about him, i think his mother was Maria Lennie and his grandmother Barbara Harvey, of Chinegar. Is Chinegar a place or a property/business perhaps? Any hints, info, suggestions very welcome :)
Thanks so much, Lesley

Hugh Halcro
I'm so excited!!!
I have the opportunity to visit Scotland in July and wanted to do some family research on my husbands family while I am there. I found your site in hopes of finding a contact that could tell me the best place to do research. The first line that I read was: Anyone wishing to post notices on this page please contact Hugh Halcro-Johnston on 811200.
I would like to research Robert Halcro & Katherine Seater, son Magnus Halcro who was born Nov 5, 1729, Orphir Orkney Islands. They immigrated to America on the Marlborough. Magnus married Elisabeth from Kirkwall, St. Olla Orkney and they had a son named Hugh Halcro!!!!

Hugh was 6 yrs when they immigrated. Magnus was indentured to Lt Col Thomas Brown. I would very much like to find more history on this and was truly hoping to find distant relatives during the visit.

If I could get in contact with Hugh Halcro-Johnston I would sincerely appreciate it.
