The Book Club meets roughly once every four to six weeks depending on members' diary commitments. Books are borrowed from the Orkney Library Service and provided for members by the Club co-ordinator. A mixture of fiction and non-fiction books is used.
Membership of the club is very relaxed. We meet on a Monday evening at 8pm for an hour. If you'd like to come along then just turn up if you know the date of the next meeting. Alternatively, message this website using the Feedback form and someone will get back to you.
Discussion about 'the book' is entirely voluntary; contribute if you'd like to, or listen to others' views if you prefer. Some people make a few notes in advance of the meeting; others have better memories and can manage to recall the book without prompts. Do whatever suits you.
Recent books have included:
The Beautiful Mystery by Louise Penny
Sea Room by Adam Nicholson
Under the Skin by Michel Faber
The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion
The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert
Benefit of the Doubt by Les Cowan
The Gustav Sonata by Rose Tremain
Grimm Tales by Philip Pullman
Munich by Robert Harris
Date of next meeting: Monday 25 February 2019 at 20.00 in the Kirk Hall.
