KDDL lose out in Lerwick
The KDDL team lost out in Lerwick on Friday night in the annual inter-county fixture, with strong finishing from the home team the real difference on the night, as well are putting in high scores when it counted.
They were down 5-1 in the doubles and 7-5 in the singles, making
a final score of 12-6 to Shetland. This was last season¹s postponed game.
This season¹s game will be played in April, in Kirkwall.
Because of the Shetland game, most of the Williamsons A League games were
postponed, only two were played and resulted in a very good win for the Golf
Club over Untouchables A by a 7-5 scoreline. The other game saw the
Commodore beat Quoyburray 10-2. The other games will be played in the week
beginning November 22. Both these results had no bearing on the top
placings.
But, there has been changes in the Williamsons B¹ League, with Sanday
taking a clear lead with a 7-5 win over Shore 2. They remain undefeated,
the only team in the B League. The Shore moved up to second equal after a
7-5 win over the Sands. Fanooks are the other team in second equal place.
Tankerness improved their position after beating Deerness 8-4 and still on
no points are Sands 2, after going down 10-2 to the Likely Lads. No score
in from the Murray Arms. Remember, points could be taken away.
On Friday, the B players get their chance once again, with the
Foubister Cup being played in the Masonic Club. It is the last team cup for
the first half for the B boys.
There were 180s from Raymond Foubister, Michael Muir snr, K. Sinclair, Craig
Moar, Thorfinn Eunson, Ali Flett and David Kirkpatrick. Billy Ward had 171.
There were high checkouts of 108 from Neil Croy and Graham Rendall and a 120
from Gareth Crichton. Eddie Craigie had a 124 that¹s not bad at 75.
There will be a committee meeting on Wednesday, November 17, in the Masonic
Club, at 8pm.
