It is getting worse entries for the cup games were at an all-time low, but
this time it hit rock bottom, with only two teams turning up for the B
Leagues Foubister Cup and one of them had only three
players, allowing the Fanooks to win 3-0.
This week it is the turn of the A League players to compete for the
Lynnfield Cup, tomorrow night, Friday, in the Royal British Legion. It is
the last of the A cups, so lets have a decent turnout.
The next cup is a ranking points event the Commodore Singles, in the
Commodore, on Friday, November 26. Entries by 7.30pm.
Thank heavens both the Williamson¹s leagues are holding up, and with no real
surprises, with all two top teams winning well and leading the way. Still
unbeaten are the Legion, 10-2 winners over Wanderers and, after eight games,
the Legion have only lost nine games and average nearly 11-1.
The Untouchables have moved clear in second place, after defeating third-placed
Commodore 9-3. The Golf Club are up into fifth place with a 10-2 beating of
RBL2 who are the only team with no points. Untouchables A had a narrow 7-5
win over Quoyburray and Meadowbank took out Wanderers B10-2. There are
some outstanding games which need to be played within the next week or the
committee may need to fix dates before the end of the first half.
It is very close at the top of the Williamsons B League, with Sanday
still undefeated after beating the Likely Lads 11-1 and they lead the
Fanooks by three points, after the Masonic boys had a very good 8-4 win over
the Murray Arms, who drew their other game 6-6 with the Bilco Boys, who lost
their other game 9-3 to The Shore 2. Sands 2 picked up their first point
by holding Tankerness to a 6-all draw. The Sands took out Deerness 9-3.
There were 180s from Ryan Tulloch, D. Wards, Michael Moodie, Michael Muir
snr, Jim Robertson, Billy Ward, Craig Taylor, Brian Murray, Ian Linklater,
Stevie Linklater, Alan Gray, Derek Ward snr, Brian Stevenson, Brian Moar,
Robert Gatt, Bruce Moar, Ross Donaldson and two each from Craig Moar and
Gordon Rendall. That makes 21 in one week, which beats the record of 20 in
any week and Eddie Craigie, who is only 74, had a 177.
There were high finishes of 103 from Ian Linklater, 104 from Ross Donaldson,
109 from Robert Gatt, 111 from Derek Firth, 112 from Alister Learmonth, 116s
from Ivan Leslie, Neil Tait, Derek Ward snr, and Brian Stevenson, 121 from
Ray Shearer and 130 from Mike Bain.
It is getting near to raffle time, so if any players have sold tickets they
should return them along with the money to their team captains who can then
return them to the treasurer, Trevor Pirie, by December 3.
