44 darts players all keen to gain the final two places to play the pro's in the Orkney Darts Classic entered the final qualification event which took place in the Stromness Golf Club on Friday night.
With six players already through and players keen to earn their way on to play on the big stage there were a lot of nerves in many of the matches.
Players from around Orkney took part in the competition including some Orkney players who travelled home from south to be at the event. There was only one lady player, Linda Ratter, who was delighted to get into the second round by beating Ross Donaldson.
The two semi-finals saw Brian Stevenson take on Jim McDill while on the other board Iain Wilkie played Keith Chalmers, but it was Jim and Keith who had the edge on the night, Keith beating Iain 3-1 and Jim winning by the same score.
The two west players won their way through to the final and therefore earned a place in the top eight players who will take on the professionals on the big stage at Pickaquoy on August 20. In the actual final Jim beat Keith 3-0.
There were 180's from Stuart Patterson and Keith Chalmers. High finishes included a 130 by Mal Reid and a 114 by Bruce Moar.
