Double win for the East
The annual East v West darts fixture took place in the Stromness Golf Club on Friday night when A and B teams from the Kirkwall & District Darts League faced teams from the West Mainland Darts Association. At the end of the nights play both trophies were won by the East.
In the A match the East team ran out winners with a convincing victory over the West. The Kirkwall side won 10 singles matches in a row with the score at the end of the singles 10-2.
The doubles were up next which was won 4-2 by the East, giving a final of 14-4.
In the B match the KDDL side were 4-0 up after the doubles which were played first in the fixture.
The West came back slightly in the doubles but Kirkwall kept the pressure up with the score 7-5 after the singles were finished. Kirkwall now needed just one more point for victory.
The fours started quite edgy with West getting a decent lead in the 701 one leg match. All the boys were showing nerves close to the end but Kirkwall’s Michael Moodie nailed the double to take the trophy home. The B boys were delighted and the celebrations began!
The KDDL would like to thank Donald and the boys for the hospitality shown on the night.
