Darts got back on the oche on Friday, when 30 members turned up for the Men’s Legion Singles.
It was great to see a lot of young members entered, and with most of the top players taking part, only one of the young guns made it to the semi-finals.
That was Neil Croy , the ‘B’ League Singles Champion, but he found Kevin Gray too hot to handle and went down 3-0.
In the other semi, Ivan Leslie won 3-1 against Brian Moar.
The final wasn’t a classic, just honest darts, and better finishing from Kevin saw him win 4-1.
Both players will now be invited to represent the Kirkwall Legion at Forres, in February, in defence of the area championships, and will be joined by the winners of the Legion Men’s Doubles, to be played on Friday, in the club. Names by 7.30 p.m. It’s for paid-up members only.
The Kirkwall Darts League programme gets underway on Monday, January 16, with the Swanney Cup.
It’s a team event for four to six players and is for ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams, being held in the Masonic Club. Names by 7.30 p.m.
A new cup programme is now out, so ignore the orange one and go with the yellow one.
Fixture lists for league games are also out. The ‘A’ League has been rearranged after Wanderers ‘B’ dropped out, so some teams may find they have a couple of home or away games one after the other.
The next committee meeting is on Wednesday, February 1, in the Masonic Club at 8 p.m.
The Kirkwall Open will be played on March 10, in the Masonic.
