Legion power on

There’s no holding back the Legion, as they powered their way to another 10-2 win, this time over third-placed Wanderers in the Williamson’s ‘A’ League.
That defeat allowed the Untouchables to move five points clear in second spot, following their narrow 7-5 defeat of Meadowbank.
The Golf Club are clear in fourth spot, after a good 9-3 over Quoyburray, and watch out for Untouchables ‘A’ as they beat the Commodores out in Holm 9-3 and move above their opponents in fifth place.
There was no luck for Quoyburray ‘B’, who remain in bottom spot after going down 8-4 to Sanday.

In the Williamson’s ‘B’ League, RBLM continued their record-breaking run with an 11-1 demolition job on the Shore.
This keeps RBLMs 12-point lead over the Murray Arms, who bounded back with a narrow 7-5 win over the Sands, which just about ends their hopes of glory. Shapinsay moved up to third place with a very good 9-3 defeat of the Bilco Boys, and Deerness secured their fourth draw on the trot, with a six-all score with the Likely Lads. Also a 6-6 draw for Tankerness, who entertained Shore ‘2’, and it was the Shore’s fifth draw of the season, and they are too far adrift now to worry the top places.

There were 180’s from Peter Liddle, Brian Murray, Derek Manson, Kevin Gray, Brian Moar, Raymond Foubister, Keith Brumpton, Colin Kirkpatrick, Michael Moodie, Alan Gray, Billy Ward, David Kirkpatrick, Robbie Stanger, Ian Wilkie, Willie Bremner and Moose Montgomery, two from Craig Taylor and Neil Croy.
High checkouts: 100 twice from Roy Foubister; 100 from Craig Taylor; 106 Colin Barnett; 119 John Thomson; 146 Kevin Gray.

It’s time for the ‘B’ boys to stand up and be counted at the ‘B’ League Doubles on, Friday, in the Masonic at 7.30 p.m.
A lack of entries last year put this fixture in doubt. Let’s show them!
That’s only the start of a busy period over the next few weeks, starting next Friday with the second last ranking points event, the League Doubles.
Then, the last ranking event on March 2 – The League Singles.
Both events are in the Legion Club and, with lots of players still in contention for selection, big turn outs are expected.
That event is followed by a week of 301 double start events. See notice boards.
If anyone knows the whereabouts of the Albert Cup, won last year by the Shore, let the secretary, Jim Scollie, know.
