Not a lot of interest for the second qualifying game as only 19 players came forward but there was the first young lady. Lizzie Irvine, tried her luck.

Unfortunately, it didn’t last long as she went out in the first round.

All the other players were from the Kirkwall darts scene with no interest from the West at all.

Short in numbers but not in the standard of the darts as three of the top Kirkwall players made it to Picky. The third place play-off went to Ian Wilkie with a three nil defeat of John Hamilton who had played well to get to the semi-finals.

In the final Stevie Linklater beat Simon Parry also three nil and all three go forward.

This Friday night it is the last chance to qualify, as the final game is in the Royal Hotel in Stromness, names by 7.30pm.

180s in the Legion from Stevie Linklater and Gary Wilson, Stevie also had a 138 finish.

Registration books for the new season are now available from the secretary, also names for committee duties are required. Closing date for both is August 5 with the meeting on August 13.
