There was no change at all in the Williamson's A league this week as all six of the top half teams inflicted defeats on the six teams below them.
League leaders the Legion emerged from a tricky tie with the Legion Arrows with a solid looking 9-3 win, although several of the games went the full distance. Sanday had a surprisingly easy 12 nil win over Untouchables A, winning all four doubles games without dropping a leg.
The Commodores maintained their game difference lead over Sanday by also registering a whitewash over RBLM, also losing very few legs over the course of the night. Stalwarts Billy Ward and Freddie Tait were in excellent form hitting three maximums and three big finishes between them.
The Golf Club remain close behind as they defeated wooden spoon contenders the Nomads 11-1, with Brett Dickinson the only Nomad to put a mark on the card.
The Wanderers went on their travels to the Ola and came away with a 9-3 victory over St.Ola. Meanwhile Sands '2' were less fortunate on their trip to the Masonic, losing 9-3 to the Untouchables.
Only three games were played out in the B league this week but they had a huge impact at both ends of the table.
Down at the bottom the Vikings took on the Bilco Boys and the boys from the golf club came away 8-4 winners, resigning John Craigie's team to the wooden spoon in their debut season. They have been unfortunate in losing players at crucial times this year but hopefully we will see them return for another crack at the league next season.
The Masonic kept their slim hopes of promotion alive by overcoming the muppets 8-4. Both sides found their key players Garry Peace and Mark Shearer locking horns in both halves, and both came away with one win apiece.
The Quoyburray derby between last years relegated teams could not have been much closer with both teams harbouring hopes of promotion. Whilst the Quoyburray B lads had the best of the singles encounters, a clean sweep of the pairs were just enough to see Neil Tait walking away with a 7-5 victory and, perhaps more importantly, the bragging rights as the victorious captain.
The warriors game with Tankerness was called off but with that game still in hand they remain 4 games better off on game difference from Quoyburray B and a further 4 points clear of the Quoyburray.
With a few games still outstanding in the B league, it is coming time to start rearranging them as games in both leagues are due to be completed by the end of the first week in April. This is unlikely to pose a problem but it is worth remembering that school holidays fall within this period and may affect player availability.
This Friday sees the prestigious Tom Notman cup taking place in the Legion with names to be in by 7.30.
The competition is a 301 double start, best of 3 legs throughout and is open to any player who has ever played in the KDDL.
Rather disappointingly only fourteen players toed the oche last season with Brian Moar claiming the title with a narrow victory over Colin Kirkpatrick.
Despite coming at the end of a busy period in our calendar, it is hoped that a larger number would consider entering this year as it is in memory of one of the men who founded the league and had a large role in setting up the organisation as we know it today. Please refer to the more senior members of our league for tales and anecdotes of who Tom was both as a man and a dart player.
