Soma’s Light (a local charity which aims to raise awareness and funds to enhance mental health support for Orkney’s young people) would like to invite you to join Sam Stringer (People Engagement Officer at Species on the Edge Orkney) and Henry Memmott (Biology Teacher at Kirkwall Grammar School) for an early morning activity focusing on the benefits to our mental health of being outdoors and around nature. This will involve a gentle walk around the Ring of Brodgar and Stones of Stenness (a total length of approximately 5km), with several stops along the way to focus on utilising our different senses. We will start walking in near-darkness, and finish after the sun has risen; a symbol that there is always brighter things to come. Following the walk, filled rolls and hot drinks will be provided indoors.
