U3A SCRATCH BAND

by Ken Hambly - 11:46 on 20 January 2013

The new band group, now called the "U3A Scratch Band" seems to have started well and is beginning to improve. There are about eight members in regular attendance, all with a variety of musical skills and a variety of unlikely instruments. The difficulty of making music with a scratch group was initially underestimated, but the group is beginning to get the hang of it. There is already a small repertoire of suitable pieces of very different types. The band is open to anyone who wants to make music, no matter how badly you may play. You could even learn the ukulele if you need an instrument. We meet in the town hall on alternate Thursdays so come along. The group is open to singers, and it is hoped that we can encourage the body of the Orkney U3A to become just a little musical. Watch this space.  Ken
