U3A Walking Group - October 2019

by Tim Wright - 17:32 on 11 October 2019

One day the Weather Gods will look favourably upon us and we will have a dry and sunny walk. However today they were on holiday and for the eleven of us meeting at the Palace car park in Birsay they made their intentions clear very early on.

We walked down to the Brough car park and along to Skipi Geo. The fishermens' hut was being repaired but no possible rain shelter. A small group of Snow Buntings was seen along the path followed by fly past of three Whooper Swans. Turning back at the top of the Northside Geo we headed back by the road to the cars. We then headed to the Smithfield for a good warming lunch, damp but not discouraged.

The next walk will be Thursday 7th November by which date it will probably be snowing, knowing our luck !

Tim
