U3A Music Appreciation Group One - Nov 2019

On Monday, November 4th, Kate was the host for Music Appreciation Group One, and Angela had chosen as her theme ‘Movement’. This produced the following interesting excerpts:
Paul Robeson, singing ‘Canoe Song’ and ‘Water Boy’;
Skipinnish, ‘Walking on the Waves’:
Shostokovich, the second movement of his ‘Symphony No 5’;
Sibelius, ‘Night Ride’;
Dvorak, ‘Slavonic Dances’;
Brahms, the ‘Molto Vivace’ from his ‘Hungarian Dances’;
Maxwell Davies, ‘Dances from The Two Fiddlers’, from ‘A Celebration of Scotland’.
The December meeting, to be held on Monday, 2nd, will be hosted by Louise, and David has chosen as his theme “Music by Nordic Composers”.
