U3A Photo Group One - 17 August 2022

by Tim Wright - 19:48 on 17 August 2022

Ten of us met at the Cemetery at Warbeth to take photos around the area. The weather was dry but cloudy to start with although the sun did come out later.

The Hamnavoe was just coming in along Hoy Sound as we arrived and some people were quick enough to get a few shots of it steaming in. Then the group divided, some to the graveyard to look for interesting grave stones and others onto the beach just down from there. The remains of the trawler with lots of rust was the subject of many pictures as were the various shapes of stone there.

Along the cliff path a very yellow bunch of Sow Thistle plus a scattering of Sea Mayweed among it was attractive for photos. On the beach a little gang of Ringed Plover were feeding while ignoring the hardy swimmers braving the waves.

Tea and refreshments were taken on the bench at the beach .Suddenly a stoat shot along in front of us heading north among the stones. One of the group has undertaken to report it to the Stoat Project as there was no mobile signal on the beach. Then it was back to the cars and home.

The next meeting will be the trip to Kinlochbervie on 1st October. There is no meeting in September as I am away for a while in September .

The Project this month is "Wood and/or Stone".  Photos to me by Monday September 12th and send your Warbeth photos to David by the same closing date .

Keep clicking, Tim.
