Funding
What is funding available for?
Funding is available from the Orkney LEADER Programme for small scale, pilot projects led by the local community, or that are in the local communities interest, with the aim to promote economic and community development within Orkney.
View some case studies from the LEADER Programme 2007-2013.
All projects that wish to apply will need to demonstrate strong linkages to at least one of the Orkney LEADER programmes core themes.
Who can apply?
All of Orkney's communities are eligible to participate in the Orkney LEADER programme. To apply you must be a:
- Constituted Community Group
- Social Enterprise
- Voluntary Organisation
- Public Sector Body (with a community project)
How much funding is available?
It is likely that the maximum grant achievable from LEADER will be 50% of total eligible costs. Projects requesting less than £1000 from LEADER will be ineligible. As LEADER is not able to fully fund any project you will be required to demonstrate that you have match funding in place before your application will be considered.
What costs can and cannot be funded by LEADER?
Any cost considered essential to the delivery of a project will be given due consideration, however, there are some costs which cannot be funded by LEADER, including financial charges, existing operating costs and purchase of land and buildings. For further detail on eligible costs please contact the LEADER team.
I have a project I think would be suitable for LEADER funding, what do I do next?
If you are interested in applying for LEADER funding please contact the LEADER Team to discuss your potential project, and view further information on the application process.
