​Stromness Regatta 2016
After the disappointment of having to postpone Stromness Regatta from its originally scheduled date at the beginning of Stromness Shopping Week in July, it was something of a relief to manage to hold the Regatta on the re-scheduled date of Saturday, 20 August. The weather in the lead-up to the event was poor and the day started with strong wind and rain but the forecast promised a reduction in the wind strength and an end to the rain. The first race was postponed from 11:00 am to 12 noon and this turned out to be a good decision as by the time the boats were out on the water and ready to race the situation had improved.
Three Yoles, ten Snipes, one Laser, one RS Feva and one Pico competed, the RS Feva and the Pico being sailed by Juniors. The full results are set out below:
